About CapsaMark
CapsaMark is the global hot sauce registry and benchmark: a directory of every hot sauce maker there is, with each fact tied to its source, and a ranking system that does not exist anywhere else today.

What it is
A complete record. Currently selling makers are listed with a link to their own shop. Makers that no longer sell are kept as history in the Graveyard, clearly marked. Makers subject to an official safety action are kept as safety notices, with the agency action quoted and linked.
How it works
- Verified before listing. A maker appears only once its existence and its bottled sauce sale are proved by a source.
- Free forever. Listing costs a maker nothing. Ranking is never for sale.
- Every fact sourced. Founding years, places, and ingredients are shown only as a source states them. A blank beats a guess.
- Makers can correct their own facts. A maker’s correction wins over our scrape for descriptive facts.
- Submission is not endorsement. CapsaMark is not ISO and does not certify sauces.
What is Core hot?
Every sauce in the registry carries one of three categories. The category decides whether a sauce can appear in hot rankings and hot awards.
- Core Hot — chili pepper is the primary heat, marketed as hot. Only Core Hot is eligible for hot rankings and hot awards.
- Spicy — heat is secondary (e.g. spicy / curry ketchup). Separate section, never mixed into hot results by default.
- All-Purpose / Regular — separate section, never mixed into hot results by default.
Local classification, where relevant, is recorded (e.g. “locally classified as hot in Germany”) and maker appeal / correction is available — correct a record.
Coverage, honestly stated
Today the registry holds 1,445 makers currently selling, 6,059 sauces, across 114 places. Those are registry coverage numbers — not the size of the market, and not a claim that the list is complete. The registry is built to keep growing and to correct itself.
Corrections
See something wrong? Correction — maker corrections win for descriptive facts.
